Time for a New Website

Aug 10, 2020
In the 20+ years that Midnet Media has been designing and building functionally attractive websites for organizations around the world, we’ve often found our very own website in need of a refresh. Truth be told, we’d prefer working on YOUR new website more than a new website for ourselves. Well, push came to shove and...meet our new website: www.midnetmedia.com

It was timely for us to revamp our site for a number of reasons. One reason that sticks out to me though is the fact that I’m hearing the same question from a lot of our customers -- “Is my website outdated?”

Though this concept can be quite objective -- and though you can find a variety of answers to “What is the average lifespan of a website?” -- the numbers tell us that most websites are redesigned and rebuilt every 3 years.

We pride ourselves on the shelf life that we afford the majority of our clients. That is, we design and build websites with a number of goals in mind, but a foundational goal is to provide a website solution that is going to age well. We avoid web fads and passing trends. We lean on our design team to use tried and true design theory when creating the look. We then take that design and shift into development mode. Our developers stay on the leading edge of website development, ensuring that our websites are fast and functional, provide an intuitive user experience, and are built in a way that pleases search engines and human consumers alike.

Plenty has changed in the world of web over the past few years, but perhaps the biggest change is how mobile-first design has been pushed to the forefront. That is, all websites that Midnet has built over the past few years have featured responsive design. This means that the sites render properly on all devices -- mobile, tablet, laptop, desktop etc. This idea of responsive design has been pushed hard by the search engines, especially Google. Search engines have been penalizing websites that are NOT responsive with lesser search rankings.
